омпания Terra Soft сегодня выпустила новую версию Linux-дистрибутива Yellow Dog Linux 6.0. Данный вариант Linux предназначен для работы только на компьютерах Macintosh под управлением процессоров G4 и G5. Для пользователей YDLnet Enhaced дистрибутив уже сейчас, но на публичных серверах и DVD он появится через две недели.

Yellow Dog Linux базируется на бесплатном дистрибутиве CentOS, собранном на базе исходников пакетов коммерческого Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Среди основных нововведений в Terra Soft выделяют новые версии Enlightenment (E17) и Gnome, поддержку плеера Gnash (открытый аналог Flash), систему VoIP-телефонии и некоторые другие новшества.

Разработчики Yellow Dog отмечают, что с их системой у пользователей устаревших компьютеров Mac есть хорошая возможность перейти на открытое ПО, полностью заменив систему на своем компьютере.

Вместе с ОС поставляется более 2000 программ, в том числе и мультимедийных.
